Acupuncture Services
Acupuncture is a powerful, time-honored therapy that supports the body’s natural ability to heal and restore balance.
At Nurtured Family Medicine, acupuncture is offered as part of a thoughtful, integrative approach to care — grounded in modern medicine, guided by tradition, and tailored to the individual.
Japanese-Style Acupuncture
I practice Japanese-style acupuncture, a refined and gentle approach that emphasizes careful palpation, subtle needling, and individualized treatment. I was trained in the Kiiko Matsumoto style, which emphasizes gentle, hands-on diagnosis—especially abdominal palpation—to guide treatment. Acupuncture points are chosen based on real-time body feedback, not just symptoms.
Compared with other styles, Japanese acupuncture:
Uses thinner needles and a lighter touch
Focuses on detailed physical examination and feedback from your body
Is often experienced as deeply calming and comfortable
Allows treatment to be precisely adjusted over time
This approach is particularly well-suited for patients who are new to acupuncture, sensitive to needles, or seeking a more nuanced and gentle experience — while still offering meaningful therapeutic benefit.
Acupuncture may be helpful for concerns such as pain, headaches, stress, sleep issues, digestive symptoms, and overall wellbeing.
