Here are quick answers to the most common questions about Nurtured Family Medicine.

  • Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a simpler, more personal way to do primary care. Instead of billing insurance for every visit, patients join the practice with a monthly membership. This allows me to spend more time with you, offer easier access, and focus on prevention, connection, and whole-person care — not paperwork or rushed appointments.

  • No — Nurtured Family Medicine does not bill or accept insurance for primary care services.

This is a very intentional choice. Insurance-based care often dictates how much time doctors can spend with patients and what services are covered. By stepping outside of that system, I’m able to offer longer visits, easier communication, transparent pricing, and care that’s guided by what you need, not what an insurance company allows.

Many patients still carry insurance — often a high-deductible or catastrophic plan — to cover things like hospital care, imaging, or specialists. I’m always happy to help you think through what coverage makes sense for your family.

  • While both Direct Primary Care (DPC) and concierge medicine focus on more personalized care and stronger doctor–patient relationships, there’s an important difference.

In concierge medicine, patients typically pay a retainer in addition to using insurance for visits and services. In Direct Primary Care, your membership covers your primary care — without insurance billing at all.

DPC is designed to be more transparent and accessible. There are no copays, no surprise bills, and no insurance-driven visit limits. This allows me to focus fully on your care, spend meaningful time with you, and keep the model simpler and more affordable for individuals and families.

  • No — Nurtured Family Medicine is an independent practice and is not owned by or affiliated with any hospital or large health care system.

This independence allows me to focus fully on you. I’m able to help coordinate your care across different health systems, specialists, and hospitals, and to recommend referrals based on quality, accessibility, and fit — not institutional requirements. My goal is to help you find the best care in the area for your specific needs, regardless of where that care is delivered.

  • Your membership includes comprehensive primary care for you (and your family, if enrolled), such as:

    • Preventive care and annual visits

    • Sick visits and acute care

    • Chronic condition management

    • Pediatric and adult care

    • Same-day or next-day appointments when possible

    • Telehealth visits

    • Direct communication between visits

    • Care coordination and advocacy

I’ll always be transparent about what’s included, and we’ll decide together what care makes the most sense for you. Please check out the Membership & Services page for more details!

  • Yes — caring for families is at the heart of this practice. I care for patients across all ages and stages of life, and I love supporting families over time. Whether it’s well-child visits, adult preventive care, or navigating health decisions together, my goal is to be a steady, trusted presence for your family.

  • Of course! While I love caring for entire families, individual patients are just as important and always welcome here. You’ll still receive personalized, unrushed care with direct access, longer visits, and whole-person support.

  • That’s great! Many members do, and I recommend it if it’s possible. Your insurance can still be used for things outside of primary care — like specialists, imaging, labs, or hospital care — while your day-to-day primary care happens here, without copays or rushed visits.

  • You can still join! Direct Primary Care works well for people who are uninsured or underinsured because it provides predictable, accessible care without surprise bills. I also help patients find affordable options for labs, imaging, and medications when needed.

  • One of the biggest benefits of this model is access. I aim to offer same-day or next-day visits whenever possible and flexible scheduling that fits your life. You’ll also have ways to reach me between visits for questions or guidance.

I am currently accepting new patients, so please schedule a meet and greet!

  • Yes! When you join Nurtured Family Medicine, you’re building a relationship with one doctor who knows you, your story, and your family. That continuity allows for deeper understanding, better care, and more meaningful conversations over time.

  • In many cases, yes. Some patients are able to use HSA or FSA funds for their membership. Because rules can vary, I recommend checking with your benefits administrator or tax advisor.

  • Not at all! This model works beautifully for people managing chronic conditions, navigating life transitions, or simply wanting more thoughtful, preventive care. Wherever you are in your health journey, you’re welcome here.
